What Is a Case Converter?
A case converter is a tool that changes the capitalization of text without retyping it. Paste a paragraph written in caps lock and turn it into clean sentence case, or turn a messy headline into proper title case in one click.
“Case” comes from printing: capital letters were kept in the upper case of the type drawer and small letters in the lower case. You can read more about the history of letter case on Wikipedia.

Title Case Rules: APA vs Chicago vs AP vs MLA
Every style guide capitalizes the first and last word and all major words such as nouns, verbs and adjectives. They disagree about the small words in between.
- Chicago: lowercase articles (a, an, the), the conjunctions and, but, for, or, nor, and every preposition, however long. Popular for books and blogs.
- MLA: like Chicago, but it also lowercases yet and so. Used for school and academic essays.
- APA: lowercase only short words of three letters or fewer, so “With” and “From” get a capital. See the official APA title case guide.
- AP: the news style also capitalizes every word of four letters or more. Used by journalists and newsrooms.

Pro tip: Pick one style and use it everywhere: website headings, blog titles and product pages. Consistent capitalization looks more professional than any single style.
Naming Conventions for Developers
Code is picky about case. Each language has conventions, and mixing them makes code harder to read. As a rule of thumb:
- camelCase for variables and functions in JavaScript and Java. MDN explains camel case in its glossary.
- snake_case for Python functions and variables, as recommended by PEP 8, and for database columns.
- PascalCase for classes and components, CONSTANT_CASE for constants, and kebab-case for URLs and CSS class names.
The developer formats understand existing names too, so XMLHttpRequest becomes xml_http_request instead of splitting every letter. Paste a whole list and each line is converted separately.
How to Change Case in Word, Google Docs and Excel
Office apps have basic case tools, but each works differently:
- Microsoft Word: select text and press Shift + F3 to cycle through UPPERCASE, lowercase and Capitalize Each Word.
- Google Docs: go to Format → Text → Capitalization and pick lowercase, UPPERCASE or Title case.
- Excel and Google Sheets: use the formulas
=UPPER(A1),=LOWER(A1)or=PROPER(A1), then paste the results as values.

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?
Both join words without spaces. camelCase starts with a lowercase letter (userName), while PascalCase capitalizes every word, including the first (UserName).
Can I convert a list of words at once?
Yes. Developer formats convert each line separately, so a list of 100 labels becomes 100 variable names in one click. Clean-up tools can also remove duplicates and sort the list.
Is there a limit on text length?
There is no fixed limit. The tool handles long documents with tens of thousands of words, and you can also open .txt, .md or .csv files directly.
